West Friendship Animal Hospital is an Open Practice

We believe in transparency and openness in all aspects of our work. We strive to optimize both yours and your pet's experience by determining the best way to handle each individual pet.

Owners are welcome to observe treatments, visit pets, watch surgery, and participate in recovery. We want to share what we do and teach pet parents. We provide treatment plans, happily discuss costs, and discuss options with owners. Veterinary medicine can be complicated and google searches are not always fruitful. We believe in an open dialogue about all aspects of care. We love what we do and we love doing it with concerned and interested pet owners. Our care team includes the veterinarian, veterinary technician, and assistants, and you, the owner.

Our Values

  • We seek to be a part of the care-giving team for each pet.

  • We work in a professional environment, where we show respect and courtesy toward one another, the client, and the patient where we foster an atmosphere of trust and integrity.

  • We practice medicine and surgery using the most current methods, drugs, research, philosophies, and professional guidelines.

  • We are kind.

  • We are compassionate.

  • We are reliable.

  • We provide a clean, safe, calm, and welcoming environment in which we care for our patients and clients.

  • We are innovative. We research the best treatment for each individual pet. We think as a team. We ask for help. We refer to specialists. We expand our care team as dictated by the needs of the patient and owner.

  • We acknowledge our responsibility to create an atmosphere of excellence by embracing life-long education and mentorship for ourselves and our clients.

  • We know that in order to provide the best care team for our pets and clients that we must be present and focus our minds and hearts on the tasks in front of us. And we know that when we do that, we enjoy our work; and that we are able to proudly uphold the sacred trust that our profession confers.
